WASHINGTON (AP) - Damani Ralph scored Chicago's first goal of the season on Freddy Adu bobblehead doll day to lift the Fire to a 1-0 win over D.C. United on Saturday. Chicago (1-1-2) opened the season with 327 scoreless minutes, coming within 30 minutes of matching the MLS record held by the 1999 Kansas City Wizards.
''If I'm getting hit, I'll hit you back. That's the way I see it now,'' Adu said. ''I'm not just going to let people hit me now and walk away with it. I didn't really mean to hurt him or anything, but I caught an elbow. I felt the ref didn't see it so I've got to do something to let him know that I'm not going to stand for this.'' - Associated Press |
