The BlueClaws 2004 home opener was rained out Monday night
(April 12) and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Tuesday. The twin bill will begin at 6:05 p.m. and feature two seven inning games. The two teams will keep their pitching rotations the same, which means Erick Arteaga, Monday’s scheduled starter, will pitch in the opener for Lakewood and will be followed by Matt Sweeney, who will be pitching in turn. Ramon Mora, slated to start Monday for Charleston (WV), will take the mound in the opener for the Alley Cats and Danny Core will pitch on his scheduled day in the nightcap. The gates at FirstEnergy Park will open at 5 p.m. for the doubleheader.
Even though the first home game of the season was postponed, there was still excitement building on Monday evening in anticipation of the winner of the BlueClaws fan bobblehead doll contest. Marie Faillaci of Long Branch, NJ was chosen as the lucky winner, shortly after 7 p.m., to have her likeness represented on a bobblehead doll to be given away to the first 2,000 fans who pass through the gates at FirstEnergy Park on Monday, August 2. Faillaci will also receive ten tickets to the game that night. “Our winner will have a lot more than 15 minutes of fame.” Lakewood BlueClaws general manager Geoff Brown said. “Bobbleheads are a tremendously popular promotional item, so our lucky fan will see their image all over the area. It’s a great way to honor all of our fans.” -vPress Release from www.oursportscentral.com |
