(The Idaho Statesman) - It´s bobblehead time.
The Idaho Steelheads will hand out 2,500 Scott Burt bobbleheads at tonight´s game against the Alaska Aces. The Bank of America Centre doors open at 6 p.m. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
The dolls usually go quickly, with fans receiving vouchers on their way into the arena and the dolls on their way out.
Tickets range from $10 to $25 for adults and from $7 to $16.25 for youths and seniors. They can be purchased at Select-a-Seat outlets, the B of A box office and www.idahotickets.com, or by calling 331-TIXS (8497).
Burt was chosen as the Steelheads´ only bobblehead model this season in a fan vote conducted on the team Web site and at home games. The fourth-year Steelhead won a narrow victory over fellow wing Adam Copeland.
“It´s fun to have something like that,” Burt said.
It might be the best player bobblehead the Steelheads have produced. Cal Ingraham´s bobblehead in 2002 included a pencil-thin mustache he never wore, and last year´s four dolls were so small “every guy´s head looked the same,” Burt said.
This year´s doll is back to the 2002 size of 7 1/2 inches tall and 1 pound, same as those for Ingraham and Bonk. Last year´s dolls were 4 1/2 inches tall and flimsy.
“It´s pretty realistic,” Burt says, flashing his grin, “missing tooth and all.”
Burt posed for the doll riding his stick like a pony. That´s how he skates onto the ice when he is one of the three stars recognized after home games.
“I´ve had a few people come up to me and say if I´m having a good game, they wait around to see if I´m going to ride my stick,” Burt said.
