Ballpark giveaways are very popular, particular Bobbleheads - springy headed statues that resemble sports players or other celebrities. These sport collectibles expanded from professional baseball into basketball, football and hockey, and now are spreading into minor league teams and other sporting figures.

Texas Motor Speedway will be handing out 5,000 David Starr bobbleheads to the first fans to enter the gates in October 11's Silverado 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck race.

"David is a real star in this market," TMS assistant general manager Kenton Nelson said. "Hopefully, it'll increase ticket sales. That's the driving force behind this, to get fans here early."

From Beanie Babies to Bobble head dolls, determining the next big marketing draw is a real hit or miss venture at best.

Riding in on the Bobblehead's tails were Celebriducks - little rubber ducks with the face of a sports star. Similar to rubber ducks you'd play with in a tub, it was thought they'd be the next best sports toy, but so far haven't caught fire like the bobbles.

More recently stadiums have been introducing Russian nesting dolls, resembling fat rounded small bowling pins modeled after popular sports players and sometimes called babushka dolls.  This give away toy seems to have more potential than the ducks, but it's too soon to tell yet.

Earlier in the summer, the San Francisco Giants gave out Barry Bonds babushkas and the Rangers gave away 25,000 nesting doll sets with  Palmeiro, Rodriguez, and Juan Gonzalez.
